Planning your journey exciting experience to plan your route – the things you want to see, the roads you want to experience, and the stops you make along the way. Here are our 3 top tips for planning your adventure.

  1. Plan your route with your vehicle weight and size in mind.

The Bailey Adamo MTPLM is 3500kg, 7485mm in length, 2379mm in width, and 2849mm in height. This may sound intimidating to some but with the extended mirrors, reverse camera, comfy captain chairs, and an automatic gearbox it is incredibly easy to drive (you can drive Bailey on a regular driving licence). However, some beautiful areas and roads may be remote so it is important to plan your route where you won’t end up on a road you can’t continue down safely.

Use a dedicated GPS app or device that accounts for height, width, and weight restrictions. Some great options include:

  1. CoPilot GPS (Caravan & Truck Mode) – Allows you to set your vehicle dimensions to avoid restricted routes.

  2. Sygic Truck & Caravan GPS – Provides navigation designed for larger vehicles.

  3. Google Maps (with caution) – Good for general navigation and places to stop along the way, but it doesn’t always consider height or weight restrictions.

  1. Take advantage of our partnership with Caravan and Motorhome Club

When you hire with us, you receive complementary membership to the Caravan and Motorhome Club for the duration of your stay. This means you gain access to member only campsites, discounted campsite rates, and well as saving on train and ferry crossings. Their website features a handy map of all their campsites so you can choose pit stops for your journey: Click here.

All Caravan and Motorhome Campsites come highly recommended. You can plug into the electric, fill up your freshwater tank, dispose of any waste safely, and most importantly relax and enjoy. When you book, you will receive your individual code to access membership.

  1. Ask questions at your handover

Whether you are a novice or an expert when it comes to motorhomes, we believe there are no silly questions! When we first started out exploring in a motorhome, we made lots of silly mistakes – like filling our freshwater tank but forgetting to put the plug in.

Every motorhome will have different operating systems and features so please do ask questions. If something doesn’t make sense, it is OK to ask our team to explain it slightly differently.

We provide an easy step-by-step guide for setting up your second bed, how to work the heating system, water, and main switch board. As a part of your hire with us, we offer 24-hour support for the duration of your hire.

Planning your journey allows you to sit back and enjoy the adventure with ease. The most important part of a motorhome holiday is to explore and enjoy. If you have any questions about planning your route or motorhome hire, please contact us: admin@openroadrentals.uk
